Confindentiality
As a registered psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar, I am committed to protecting your privacy and upholding confidentiality in line with the Australian Psychological Society’s Code of Ethics and the APS Confidentiality Guidelines: APS Confidentiality Guidelines.
If you are referred under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), I am required by Medicare to send a brief letter to your referring GP or psychiatrist summarising relevant clinical information, your diagnosis, and your treatment plan. If you would prefer not to share certain information with your referrer, or are unsure about how this applies to your situation, please feel free to discuss this with me during your session.
Outside of required correspondence with referrers, your personal information and what we discuss in therapy will remain private and secure unless:
- It is required by law (e.g. subpoena by court or legal authority)
- There is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else
- You have given written permission for information to be shared with another person or agency
In all instances, information will only be shared in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988.
Digital Record Keeping and Tools
I use Zanda Health, a secure Australian-based clinical software system, to manage bookings, clinical records, and secure communications. Zanda is compliant with the Australian Privacy Principles (APP) and stores all data securely on Australian servers. For more information, see: Zanda Health Privacy Policy.
For psychological assessments and AI-supported note-taking, I use NovoPsych and NovoNote:
NovoPsych provides digital psychological assessments, and stores results securely within Australia in accordance with the APP and AHPRA standards.
NovoNote is an AI-supported tool that assists with writing session notes. It does not store audio recordings. Audio is processed in real time, then deleted. Only session summaries are retained in your secure record.
Your data is not used to train AI models, and your participation is voluntary. You may opt out of AI note-taking at any time.
For more information on NovoPsych’s privacy and security practices, visit: NovoPsych Privacy Policy & Security, and NovoNote Privacy Policy.
If you have any concerns about confidentiality, data handling, or privacy, I welcome open discussion at any time to help you feel informed and comfortable in your care.
